Temporary Outdoor Dining Permit Program

Post Date:06/04/2020 10:41 AM

City Council unanimously approved urgency ordinance NO. 20-450U at a special meeting this morning, June 4th, to create a temporary outdoor dining permit program for restaurants in the City of Agoura Hills. This permit program will assist area businesses in the recovery process by helping  maintain physical distancing guidelines. State guidelines indicate that restaurants should continue to encourage takeout and delivery service whenever possible, but where dine-in service is allowed, outdoor seating should be made available to minimize cross-flow of customers in enclosed environments.

A temporary outdoor dining permit issued by the City will authorize the revocable, and limited, temporary use of outdoor dining seating for restaurants, subject to compliance with operation and safety provisions at the city, county, and state level. Restaurants may temporarily provide or expand outdoor dining seating on private outdoor property, such as parking lots, in addition to the outdoor dining spaces currently permitted for restaurants under the Agoura Hills Municipal Code or an applicable conditional use permit. If an applicant intends to use a shared private parking lot for expanded outdoor seating, written consent from the owner must be obtained.

The necessary forms and information can be found on the City's website via the COVID-19 Business Reopening Information page and will be posted soon.

The City of Agoura hills is committed to helping our area businesses through the reopening process. We as a city are exploring additional options to support local businesses in any way possible over the coming weeks and months of the recovery.
