WHO PROVIDES MY TRASH SERVICE?
Residential refuse services are provides by G.I. Industries. In addition to curbside refuse services, curbside recycling and green waste services are also provided. Residents can contact G.I. Industries at (805) 522-9400 to establish service.
Resident can choose from six (6) service levels of solid waste collection services:

WHERE AND HOW DO I RECYCLE?
Recycling is easy and is done through your regular weekly service provided by the City’s residential waste collector, G.I. Industries. Simply place your recycling cart out along with your refuse and green waste carts and it is picked up on your regular collection day. Please deposit recyclables in the appropriate container. The following are acceptable and unacceptable items for your recycling container:
Acceptable Items: all colors of unbroken glass; clean, dry newspapers and inserts; empty metal cans, caps, lids, bands and foil; plastic with #1 & #2 on the bottom; most clear plastic bags - #s 2 & 4; mixed paper, junk mail, magazines, photocopies, and cereal boxes without liners, corrugated cardboard, phonebooks, scrap aluminum such as lawn chairs window frames and pots (must fit inside recycling container).
Unacceptable Items: pyrex; tableware; ceramics; windows; light bulbs; mirrors; broken glass; rubber bands; water; dirt, mold or other contaminates; aerosol cans; spray cans, unless instructed; cans with paint; liquid or hazardous waste; stickers; napkins; paper towels; tissues; waxed paper; milk cartons; carbon paper; laminated paper; thermal FAX paper; any wet or food stained paper.
HOW DO I GET RID OF LARGE BULKY ITEMS?
A Bulky Item Pick Up Program is available as part of your residential service. This is a curbside service, but you must place the items at the curbside for pick up.
Effective January 2006, two (2) options are available to residents. G.I. Industries will provide each household the option of either of the following:
One (1) pick up per calendar year of up to four (4) bulky items; OR
Two(2) pick ups per calendar year of up to two (2) bulky items each time.
Please contact G.I. to schedule a pick up date and for specific questions on types of items.
What are bulky items?
Couches; refrigerators; rugs; mattresses; washers; dryers; water heaters; stoves; tree trimmings (bundled, not over 3 feet in length); some electronic waste; and other miscellaneous items (check with G.I. Industries for limits on electronic waste).
The following are not considered Bulky Items:
Construction debris; building materials; dirt; rocks; car bodies; tires; lumber; household hazardous waste, such as batteries, chemicals, used motor oil and paint
PROBLEMS WITH MY RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
If you experience problems with your residential services (missed pick ups, error in billing etc.), first contact G.I.Industries (805) 522-9400 to report the problem. G.I. is committed to provide excellent customer service and resolving issues.
