HOW DO ARRANGE A PICK UP?

You simply need to contact At Your Door Special Collections at (800) 449-7587, to make an appointment.  As an added convenience,  residents also have the ability to schedule via At Your Door's web site.  Residents simply log on to http://www.wmatyourdoor.com/ and go to the “schedule appointment button” and follow instructions.  You can also set up an appointment by email, atyourdoor@WM.com

At Your Door Special Collections will then send you a collection Kit to place acceptable items inside the bag.  The Kit includes a heavy gauge plastic bag, an instruction sheet, survey card, labels for unlabeled containers, a plastic tie for the bag, as well as a list of acceptable and non-acceptable items.

WHAT IF I HAVE QUESTIONS?

Questions can be referred to At Your Door Special Collections by simply calling (800) 449-7587, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Messages can be left after hours, weekends and holidays.  All messages will be returned the next business day.  You can also email questions to atyourdoor@WM.com.

WHAT ARE ACCEPTABLE ITEMS

Curbside will accept most household chemicals and hazardous waste materials, but not every type of item.  Most common items are accepted.  Curbside can only accept what fits inside the Bag provided in the Kit sent to residents after an appointment is made.  Non acceptable items include ammunition, explosives, asbestos, etc.

DOES THE PROGRAM ACCEPT MEDICINE?

No.

DOES THE PROGRAM ACCEPT SHARPS?

Yes.  The program does accept sharps; however, for safety purposes they must be inside sealed rigid containers before placing them into the Bag.

CAN I PLACE ITEMS OUTSIDE THE BAG?

Yes.  There are several items that can be placed outside the bag.  They are: automobile batteries (unlimited), florescent tubes (limit: 5), and electronics (TV's, computers, CPUs, monitors, microwaves, etc.)

WHERE DO I PLACE MY ITEMS?

  1. Place your items to be collected in the sealed Bag on the ground, near either your entrance door, or the place it will be collected from.  DO NOT PLACE IT NEAR THE CURB OR STREET.
  2. Insure that the sealed bag is available for collection at the designed location by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.  Placing it out at a later time could result in your items not being picked up.  At Your Door may not be available to return and collect your items.

WHAT IF I HAVE MORE ITEMS THAN FIT INTO THE BAG?

The program is set up to accept only those items that can fit into the bag and be properly secured.  If you have more waste, you will need to schedule another appointment at the next scheduled collection event.  The space available in the collection trucks limits the collection quantity.

WHAT DO I DO WITH NON-ACCEPTABLE ITEMS?

Questions regarding non-acceptable items can be directed to At Your Door Special Collections at (800) 449-7587.

WHAT DO I DO IF MY KIT IS MISSING ITEMS (STICKERS/PLASTIC TIES)?

On ocassion a kit may be missing items.  If you are missing either stickers or the plastic tie, you can use sticker labels that can be affixed to the can.  Simply write the contents on the sticker.  Or you can use a permanent marker and write the contents directly on the container.  For missing plastic ties, you can use any plastic tie around the house or string will also work.

WHAT IS THE COST?

The service is FREE to Agoura residents only.  Businesses in Agoura and properties in unincorporated Agoura are not eligible.

HOW COME I CAN ONLY RECEIVE ONE BAG?

The HHW/E-Waste program was established to provide residents a "supplemental"  avenue to exsiting programs provided by the County of Los Angeles for disposal of household hazardous and electronic waste items.  Additionally, because the collection trucks have limited capacity, one bag collection, along with electronics collected, insures all residents who establish appointments will have there disposal needs met.

SAFETY TIPS

  1. Never mix materials, as there may be an adverse reaction
  2. Keep materials in original containers whenever possible
  3. Always seal containers to prevent leakage
  4. Label any items that are not clearly labeled

IF I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE SERVICE, WHO DO I CALL?

If you experience problems with the collector or the service, please contact the City's Recycling Coordinator, Solid Waste Solutions, at (805) 495-7521 or City Hall at (818) 597-7314.
