The Housing Element is a required element of the City General Plan, and is updated every eight years as dictated by the California Housing and Planning Department. The four major and required components of the Housing Element are the following:
- Housing Needs Assessment: An analysis of the City's demographic, household and housing characteristics and related housing needs.
- Housing Constraints: A review of potential market, governmental, and infrastructure constraints to meeting the City's identified housing needs.
- Housing Resources: An evaluation of residential sites and financial resources available to address the City's housing goals.
- The Housing Plan: A plan for addressing the City's identified housing needs, constraints, and resources through housing goals, policies and programs.
The following is the Agoura Hills 2013-2021 Housing Element which was adopted by the City Council in August 2013, and certified by the State Housing and Community Development Department in September 2013. In compliance with Senate Bill 341, the Agoura Hills Housing Successor Report for Fiscal Year 2014-15 was approved by the City Council on April 13, 2016.
