Plan reviews ensure plans meet all Federal, State and Local code requirements.  This service saves the builder from costly mistakes that could be encountered during construction and lends the additional expertise of a construction professional to review the project.

The City of Agoura Hills has contracted with one of the most qualified plan review consultants in the area, Bureau Veritas (California Code Check) and Interwest Consulting Group.

Our staff and our consultants pride themselves in providing a thorough plan review of the construction plans that are submitted for review.  Our plan review time is quick.  Whether the review is conducted by our staff or through our consultant, the turnaround time is approximately 10 business days from the date of submittal.

PLAN REVIEW REQUIREMENTS

The following are the plan submittal requirements to the Building and Safety Department:

Two complete sets of the plans for the work being conducted must be submitted to the Building and Safety Department.  Depending on the scope of the project, these plans can include:

  • Site Plan
  • Floor Plan
  • Elevation Plan
  • Foundation Plan
  • Framing Plan
  • Structural Plans
  • Roof Plan
  • Mechanical Plans
  • Electrical Plans
  • Plumbing Plans
  • Detail Sheets
  • Cross Sections
  • Single-line Diagram
  • Accessibility Plan
  • Structural Calculations
  • Title 24 energy Documents, and other plans as necessary for a thorough plan review to be conducted.

PLAN EXPIRATION

Subsection 105.3.2. of Section 8103 “Time limitation of application” of Agoura Hills Municipal Code states that, “An application for a permit for any proposed work shall be deemed to have been abandoned 180 days after the date of filing, unless such application has been pursued in good faith or a permit has been issued; except that the building official is authorized to grant one or more extensions of time for additional periods not exceeding 90 days each. The extension shall be requested in writing and justifiable cause demonstrated. [OSHPD 1, 2, & 4] Time limitation shall be in accordance with the California Administrative Code, Chapter 7, Section 7-129.
